The wind turned offshore this evening in Santa Cruz; Feb 22, 2012. The surf cleaned up nicely for these luck few guys at Little Wind and Sea as the seagulls hung out on the rocks. Check out the sand piper taking a bath after the credits.

Small but fun day at the Hook Santa Cruz California. Bud Freitas, Joe Clark on his SUP, Kevin Miske, and various others get some fun waves.

The calendar does has not rolled to spring yet, but the swells and wind are definitely in spring mode. A new WNW swell will build this weekend in the 4-8ft range by Sunday and little larger on Monday.  There is also some small SW energy during this forecast period; another sign of spring. Next WNW swell pulse builds to 4-7ft late Wednesday (leap day) and Thursday March 1st.

Current Presidents Day swell fading with lite winds in the forecast. New WNW builds tomorrow with 4-7ft at exposed areas; up to head high Santa Cruz. Then larger for the last half of the weekend.
