The current mix of WNW swell and wind swell will mix in with a couple of small S swells through mid week. The swell combination will provide knee to waist occasional chest high waves in Santa Cruz and San Francisco is forecast to see 3-6 foot surf. The trend then goes smaller Thursday Friday and smaller into next weekend.

Rincon January 2, 2013

Rincon January 2, 2013

Had not surfed in a week and just ate a Subway sandwich so I was not as fast as I can be. Missed a few good ones and lip dodged a lot of opportunistic sections; watching again is frustrating and educational at the same time. It was crowded. The masses sense weakness and go when they think they can; I had to share a lot of waves. Or they saw the camera and wanted to be in the video. Regardless of the crowds or conditions, going surfing is always an opportunity to have fun. Thanks to my family for chilling (literally) on the the beach and gratitude to all!

San Francisco well feel more of the wave energy with 4-7 foot surf, but wind may crumble up things early am or by mid-days.
