Galveston Texas is a poplar beach town near Houston and only 3-4 hours drive from Austin and San Antonio which is close by Texas standards. It has a historic Pleasure Pier for your amusement, other fishing piers, entertainment, wide ranges of dinning, and usually has small surf with occasional better days.
