This webcam is looking West from the Hanalei Bay Resort on the North shore of the beautiful Hawaiian Island of Kauai. Hanalei is a slice of heaven for locals and visitors a like. I understand the area has grown a lot since I visited 40 years ago, but not too many large resorts and vacation rentals are some what limited to Visitor Destination Areas. There is wide variety of surf on the North shore with most of it in the expert category often with no life guards so know your limits and respect the locals. A quick search and it appears there are life guards at many beaches now, check with the guards or locals if you are not sure. Pines Trees is the beach right in the town of Hanalei and can offer up waves for any level of surfer depending on the day, but the bottom is sandy and when the waves are small it is good for the keikis and beginners.
